Introduction To UTC & Initial Thoughts On Blogging/ First Impressions

My initial thoughts on blogging, were that it seemed like a chore, but once attempetd, it was very much straight forward.  Like any uncompulsary task, blogging appears to be long and stressful.  However, I found that once I actually sat down to start my blogs, it was very straight forward and that because of its simplicity, my mind subconsciously, perceived it as uneccessary.  Alongside posting my first blog, my fist impression of uni on a scale of 1- 10 (10 being the highest) would be 3.

Uni itself is very adaptable, attending lectures and even group work, were not as bad as I imagined them to be, but in regards to my accommodation, I would rate it at 5.  Bucks New Uni, having only two student halls and therefore, not being able to cater for the majority, is an understandable downfall.  Personally, I think it is vital for first year students, to stay on Campus in order to help them adapt more quickly and comfortably, to the university lifestyle.  Having said all this, Bucks is honestly, a good uni and I hope to graduate here!!! :)

Introduction to UTC (Understanding The Customer): Followed by an introduction to the course, was a lecture on the relation between people and their possessions.  Russel W Belk, suggests that "Possessions are an important component of sense of self.  The most direct form of evidence is found in the nature of self-perceptions..."  This means that, WE ARE WHAT WE HAVE! In addition, not only are we what we are seen to be (the 'me' concept), we are also what is seen to be ours (the 'mine' concept). This is called the 'me' and 'mine' concept.

According to Kotler, the 'me' concept is based on the CULTURAL, SOCIAL, PERSONAL, and PSYCHOLOGICAL aspects of the buyer, which influences consumer behaviour.

Cultural: Culture, Subculture and the foundation of your Social Class
Social: Family Roles and Status
Personal: Age and lifecycle stage, Occupation, Economic Circumstances, Lifestyle, Personality and Self-Concept
Psychological: Motivation, Perception, Learning, Beliefs and Attitudes = BUYER
